York Trip 2012

Day One - Monday 28th May

The journey was fine and didn't take too long. After settling in at Huntington House the children enjoyed a visit to Barley Hall and a visit from a Viking!

Day Two - Tuesday 29th May

The children enjoyed trips to York Minster, Jorvik and Dig before exploring the city on a guided ghost walk. Everyone slept well and they're looking forward to the trip to the arboretum and house at Castle Howard.

Day Three - Wednesday 30th May

Mr Marle is having internet issues so the photos will have to be posted later! In the meantime, a great day was had at Castle Howard with an amazing view across the Lake to the main house as they entered the estate. The children spent the morning orienteering, recycling and making art from natural materials at the Arboretum before lunch and a visit to the house in the afternoon. All the children loved the adventure playground! Enjoyed a dinner of tomato soup and pasta bake and played card games. Good night's sleep.

Day Four - Thursday 31st May

The weather wasn't so kind! It rained during the morning's trip to the Railway Museum but everyone still had a great time.  The science workshop was interesting and the children were more engaged by Barbie being propelled by steam than Newton!  After the workshop they explored the museum in two groups.  It was raining quite heavily while they were in the museum and on the journey to Eden Camp, but it had dried out by the time they got there.  The children explored the different huts; were entertained by the 40s musical hall; ate ice lollies and had an exploratory session in the adventure playground.  .  After a bolognese dinner (the most popular yet) the children had a quiz based on the week, a talent show and a disco.

Day Five - Friday 1st June

The children had a walk on the City Walls before returning to Huntington House to pack. The coach picked them up at 1pm and should have them back home for 3.30pm (traffic permitting).
