Year Five 2011-12

Year Five was taught by Mrs Stewart and Miss Merifield with help from Teaching Assistants Mr Baker and Mrs Hocking.

In March the children took part in FaceBritain, a national project that invited all young people in the UK to submit a self-portrait.The artwork will be part of a world record attempt and hopefully the biggest online gallery of self-portraits in the world. If you would like to view your child's portrait, along with the rest of their class please click here and enter Year 5 in the password field.

Year Five also took part in Lancashire Library Service's Fantastic Book Awards. For more information please click here.

As a very family orientated school, Garstang St Thomas' has formed strong links with the local Stransdale project, a residential development for senior members of the community! The children have helped create beautiful flowerbeds on the Stransdale green and return each year to plant new bedding pants.  But this is not a one way arrangement, ladies from the Stransdale group have been visiting our Year Five class and teaching them knitting, sewing and cardmaking.
