Reception 2011-12

Our Reception Class was taught by Mrs Wilson with help from Teaching Assistants Mrs Dugdale and Mrs Hart.

Our Reception & Year One classes were lucky enough to be able to take part in a new Forest Schools initiative run by the Rural Wyre Children's Centre. For more information on what this involves please click here.

In March the children took part in FaceBritain, a national project that invited all young people in the UK to submit a self-portrait.The artwork will be part of a world record attempt and hopefully the biggest online gallery of self-portraits in the world. If you would like to view your child's portrait, along with the rest of their class please click here and enter Reception in the password field.

During Fairtrade Fortnight the Reception Class visited the Co-op and Booths Supermarket in Garstang to look for and buy Fairtrade products which they then tasted back at school.

The children in Reception celebrated Chinese New Year with a range of Chinese activities:

All children in Reception get an opportunity to bring something, or someone, to school for "Show and Tell". In November, Ella brought retired Guide Dog "Karen" to meet the class and told them about what guide dogs do.

In November the class learnt about Guy Fawkes and fire safety. The photos below show them making "Breadstick sparklers" with Mrs Hart and creating their own "bonfires" and bonfire night posters.

In September the class enjoyed their first ever school event - Spanish Day, where they were able to dress up in red and yellow ( in honour of the Spanish flag), try out Spanish food and dance and have a go at speaking Spanish. As you can see from the photos below they really got into the swing of things!
